For the third season of Billions, we wanted to focus on the drama between all of the characters instead of the main two guys. The power structure in the show is constantly shifting and the show runners wanted to portray this year as a Shakespearian drama.
To accomplish this, we started with the idea of a painterly NYC skyline mixed with the line graphs of the stock market. The result was a gothic representation of Wall Street.
We also knew that we wanted to include more of the talent in this season's look, so we conducted a green screen shoot with the cast and asked them to perform simple movements in character. We shot in slow motion in order to create tension with speed ramps.
Before the season premiered, we took over all of the screens in Brookfield Place, an upscale shopping destination in lower Manhattan connected to the Oculus and WTC1. Each screen has a :15 second loop of the talent, tune-in information and copy line using the packaging that we established earlier.
Compositing and Animation by David Winkfield and Mark Auleta.
We went through several ideas that included the talent, city and stock market.
